JAY HUGHES is a new writer of gay (M/M) erotic fiction.  He is also the long-lost cousin of erotic romance author Jamaica Layne, and is more than 20 years her senior; Jamaica only recently learned of his existence. He was born in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and raised on the streets of Detroit.  Jay eventually moved to New York City, where he became a successful costume designer for Broadway musicals and drag-queen revues. 

Jay has long wanted to write passionate stories about gay men in love, and he even sought out mentorship and support from the great M/M romance author Ryan Field, who remains a close friend.  Jay lives in New York City with his longtime partner, the famous drag queen Lee Jones, their three cats (names Chanel, Escada, and Burberry) and their beloved potbellied pig, Jacques.
